Saw this in my local store & it's the same price online. I think it's national too.

Here's a better link to the deal

No worries, the cheapest I could find it elsewhere was around £16-£18 (Wilkinsons and Home Bargains).

Even if one person has benefitted I'm happy, at least my time wasn't wasted!

Have you ever used Dulux trade paint? I've heard that it's thicker and better but never used it myself.
Can you recommend a better paint?

The trade Dulux is a lot better and less watery but much more expensive these days, also the "Solo" or "One Coat" non-trade versions of either Crown or Dulux are quite effective for reducing the number of coats required especially if covering a darker colour but they can be a bit thick/sticky with rollers.

I bought 12 matt finish dulux emulsion cans late last year when they were on offer at Wilkinsons for £8 & have just used the last 2. They were absolutely fine after that time. I'm sure this paint will keep for a year with no problems providing the the cans are not opened and kept somewhere at a sensible temperate, e.g. not in a loft (where it could bake) or a shed (where it could freeze or bake) - I kept mine in a cellar which has a constant temperature. However, you do need to stir the contents very, very throughly before use as the pigment seems to settle at the bottom of the can and the paint was much thicker there. I use spaghetti spoon/stirrers from Ikea which are ideal and they coast about 40p each - they are long enough to reach the bottom of the can and better than a stick or the paint stirrers sold in DIY sheds.

To FlyRyder - Thanks for the post, I will certainly benefit from this.

what about eggshell? couldn't find silk on Wikipedia http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paint but eggshell is supposed to be between matt and satin. it's very expensive at the usual outlets.

Eggshell tends to be solvent based and comes at a premium price, where as emulsion ( this deal) is water based

I thought all emulsion was acrylic these days? do you mean the other types will come off when I run a damp sponge over them?

No they're waterbased and don't quote me on this but I believe the Dulux Matt and Silk finishes are wipeable and can be cleaned with a sponge without the paint coming off.

I thought acrylic was water based. can't imagine any paint would be any good if you couldn't wipe it. must be some weaker setting stuff like (as in similar to, not as in for example) PVA in the cheaper non-acrylics.
