1997 was a great year for music imo with this album, 'The Fat of the Land' by The Prodigy and 'OK Computer' by Radiohead.
Best album of the 90's...by a mile.
For 12 months the Verve were right at the top, with a cool Oasis couldnt match...ever (and i do like Oasis)

Bah! I paid full price for it years ago, hated it then, hate it now. 10p's about what it's worth!
The singles were good , but I felt the rest of the album was dross.

Bit of a mixed view of The Verve on here. I've never heard anyone say a bad word about Urban Hymns, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. One of the best CD's in my collection along with Stone Roses - Stone Roses, U2 - The Joshua Tree, Oasis - What's the story, and every Foo Fighters album. Hot from me.
